Gujarat is handing women entrepreneurs Rs 1 lakh loans: no interest, no collateral, no catch
Gujarat's Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana offers women entrepreneurs interest-free loans of up to Rs 1 lakh with no collateral requirement to start or expand a business.
Women in Gujarat looking to start or grow a small business now have a state-backed route to funding that doesn’t require putting up any collateral or paying a single rupee in interest. The Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana, run by the Gujarat government, offers eligible women entrepreneurs loans of up to Rs 1 lakh, repayable over as long as five years, aimed squarely at helping them launch new ventures or scale up ones already running.
Eligibility is kept deliberately broad. Any woman who is a permanent resident of Gujarat, at least 18 years old, and has passed at least the 8th standard can apply, with a valid Aadhaar card as a mandatory requirement. The scheme sets no income ceiling, so applicants from any economic background can qualify, though government employees are excluded, and the same business idea cannot be used for more than one application. Those who repay on schedule also receive an additional subsidy of 6 percent per annum, and there is no processing fee attached to the loan application itself.
Applying happens entirely online through the scheme’s official website, where applicants download the application form or collect it from the nearest Gujarat Women’s Economic Development Corporation office. The form needs to be filled out with personal and business details before being submitted along with the required paperwork. Applicants will need a valid Aadhaar card, a government-issued identity proof such as a Voter ID, Driving License or PAN Card, an address proof, proof of having passed 8th standard, bank account details for the loan disbursement, recent passport-size photographs, and a detailed business plan spelling out the type of business, investment needed and expected revenue.
Beyond the loan itself, the scheme folds in training and skill-development programs designed to sharpen participants’ business acumen and entrepreneurial know-how, an addition meant to improve the odds that funded ventures actually survive and grow. A registered business is not a prerequisite to apply, but a credible business plan is, since assessors use it to gauge the venture’s viability before releasing funds.
No formal application deadline has been listed for the Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana, meaning eligible women can apply whenever they are ready, though interested applicants should confirm current windows directly through the official portal before submitting documents. The scheme is administered by the Gujarat government’s Women’s Economic Development Corporation, and full details, forms and eligibility checks are available on the official state government website.
