Indian brand Consistent takes on premium rivals with Rs 2,699 Wi-Fi security camera

While established brands dominate the premium home security camera segment in India, Indian networking and surveillance company Consistent is trying to make a mark by offering feature-rich cameras at affordable prices. Its Consistent 3MP Smart Wi-Fi Bullet Camera CEYE Series, model CT-CM-BW3M, is priced at Rs 2,699 and promises features usually seen in more expensive cameras.

These include 3MP Full HD recording, all-time colour night vision, IP66 weather resistance, human detection, two-way audio, Alexa support, cloud recording and support for microSD cards up to 256GB. According to a review by TOI Tech Desk, the camera delivers largely on these promises in real-world use.

Setting up the Wi-Fi camera required no long network cables; after mounting it and connecting it to a power source, pairing with the CEYE mobile app took just a few minutes, with the app guiding users through scanning a QR code on the camera and connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Once connected, the review found the live feed, settings and recordings were accessible without complicated configuration, and the app also supports PC monitoring.

During testing, the 3MP resolution produced sharp daytime footage, and the camera’s All Time Color Technology retained colour footage in low-light conditions rather than switching to grainy black-and-white video. The Smart Human Detection feature mostly triggered alerts only for people rather than passing animals or trees, reaching the phone within a few seconds through the app.

The review noted some limitations: the 10x digital zoom loses image quality when zoomed in significantly, and the two-way audio, while clear for short conversations, is not as loud as a dedicated video doorbell. Even so, the review concluded the camera offers a sensible option for homes and small businesses looking to improve security without a large investment.
